1. Exercise control section
Exercise control section conducts planning, preparation, coordination and support of operational tasks in the course of exercises connected with live and constructive simulation as well as coordination briefings are held here with a representative of Exercise Directorate.
Exercise control section’s tasks:
-
Assignment of training goals;
-
Assignment of Mission Essential Task List (METL);
-
Processing of Exercise Specification (EXSPEC);
-
Planning of training;
-
Processing of exercise scenarios on the basis of participated units´ goals;
-
Coordination among activities of Opposing Force (OPFOR), Observer /Controller positions (O/C) and Higher Control (HICON).
2. Live simulation section
Live simulation section conducts instrumented training as regards drill tactical manoeuvres at company/battalion levels with the support of a tactical simulator MILES 2000.
The tactical simulator MILES 2000 is being used in force-on-force exercises including BLUEFOR and OPFOR. As for small arms - laser is initiated with blank ammunition and as for combat armoured vehicles - laser is initiated with an electrical batting. As far as evaluation equipment is concerned, it is mounted on personnel and armour involved in the exercise and their hitting is transmitted to the evaluation centre EXCON and simultaneously checked by O/Cs. The exercise is recorded, replayed and analyzed in detail during After Action Reviews (AAR).
3. Constructive simulation section
The constructive simulation is a system that uses wide range of complex mathematical and decision making modules as well as statistical techniques. Those standard methods of the constructive simulation are not used only in NATO armies but also in the Slovak Armed Forces in the course of computer assisted exercises and force-on-force exercises at the tactical level for commanders, staffs or units. Moreover, the Ministry of Interior (including fire brigades, rescue corps, police units, medical emergency service, integrated rescue system or civilian protection agencies) also participates in computer assisted exercises with scenario aimed at solving some crisis situations.
As for technological means engaged in the course of Computer assisted exercises, in particular, workstations with 2D simulation of combat in a real time with data information on digital terrain and workstations with 3D simulation of depicted battle space, those are staff essential tools.
4. O/C section
The O/C section supports training in live and constructive simulation and it prepares, monitors, evaluates all the exercises in cooperation with the evaluation centre EXCON.
Trained units BLUEFOR and OPFOR are monitored by the O/C section as regards training tasks, goals, exercise scenarios, exercise tactical plans as well as rules and safety measures (EXPRO). Furthermore, this section is responsible for summarizing, analyzing and submitting reports needed for ultimate After Action Reviews. In close cooperation with the evaluation centre EXCON, then Take Home Package, background recorded information on the entire exercise, is released for headquarters of involved units.
